Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
